What fees and taxes apply?
Buyer's fees are 10% + VAT.
VAT also applies to the purchase price at a rate of 21%, except in the case of horses sold without VAT.

VAT calculation applies in 5 cases:

1. The Buyer is Belgian and subject to VAT: VAT is invoiced on the full sale price (VAT recoverable).

2. The Buyer is subject to VAT in an EU Member State other than Belgium, provides their intra-community identification number and the horse is delivered to an EU Member State: VAT exemption (proof of export required). The horse must be exported within 3 months and is not permitted to compete within the EU during that period.

3. The Buyer is subject to VAT in an EU Member State other than Belgium, provides their intra-community identification number and the lot remains in Belgium: VAT is invoiced (VAT recoverable from the Belgian tax authorities).

4. The Buyer is not subject to VAT either in Belgium or in another EU Member State: VAT is invoiced (VAT non-recoverable).

5. The lot is exported outside the EU: VAT exemption upon presentation of the customs document certifying export (original DAU No. 3). The horse must be exported within 3 months and is not permitted to compete within the EU during that period.
When and how should payment be made?
Full payment (purchase price, fees and VAT) must be arranged on the day of the sale, by bank transfer to the order of The Auction.
When can I take delivery of my purchase?
After the sale, the horses sold return to their seller while the buyer arranges payment. Once payment has been received by The Auction, the buyer is authorised to take delivery of their purchase.
When and how can I insure my purchase?
The transfer of ownership takes place immediately when the lot is knocked down to the highest bidder. From that moment, it is the buyer's responsibility to insure their purchase if they wish to do so.

Several insurers will be present at the sale. The Auction has negotiated an insurance solution to cover the period between the sale and delivery of the horse to the buyer.
Veterinary protocol
The Auction has established a strict and comprehensive protocol for all horses entered in the sale, which includes a full set of X-rays, a clinical examination and a negative blood test for piroplasmosis.

Complete veterinary records for all horses are available on request by email at info@theauction-online.com.
